Camping is one of the most popular summer past times in the United States. Something about going out into the wilderness to convene with the peace and quiet of nature appeals to almost everyone.
Some people love to go camping in a primitive fashion. In other words they want to sleep on the ground in a tent, have no running water, and no modern conveniences. This type of camping is not for everyone though. In fact, the older most of us get, the more comfort we’d like to have while camping. And that’s why motor homes tend to be an excellent camping option.
Since motor homes are designed as if they’re a small apartment on wheels, you’re able to take advantage of the freedom and flexibility that mobility brings. Yet you don’t have to give up all the creature comforts of home while traveling.
There are a variety of sizes and configurations to motor homes too, so if you simply want to have a comfortable bed up off the ground while you’re camping then a small basic motor home would do the trick. If you want to be able to cook full meals, have a regular bathroom to use, and even have access to electronics such as television though, these can all also be had with larger and more elaborate motor homes.
If you’re not sure whether you’d enjoy camping in a motor home, then you should give it a trial run first by renting a motor home. Motor homes can be rented in various sizes and configurations too, so if you want to be able to take an entire family camping then you’d rent a larger motor home with enough beds in it for everyone. If you simply want to test out small and basic options for you and your spouse, then try renting a smaller motor home.
You can even try them all out before deciding which one to buy. Start by renting a small, basic motor home and go camping in that for a few days. Then the next time rent a larger model and try that one. Keep moving to larger and more elaborate models until you’ve tried them all, then you’ll have a very good idea of which one will work best for your camping style.
Using a motor home for camping allows you to cook meals without the common risks or hassles associated with camp cooking, since you won’t have to cook everything on an open fire. Having a kitchen area to cook in is also quite useful when you’re camping in areas of the country which don’t allow open flame cooking because of brush fire dangers.
Sleeping in a bed off the ground is another popular reason many people want to go camping in a motor home. You don’t have to worry about having bugs crawl over you at night, you don’t have to try and get comfortable on a hard ground, and you don’t have to worry about nocturnal visits from curious bears.
The other primary reason motor homes are excellent to use for camping is weather. Sometimes no matter how much you plan, the weather just doesn’t cooperate. And trying to sleep in a leaky tent during a downpour can really put a damper on an otherwise exciting and fun camping trip. When you’re using a motor home though, the rain won’t both you in the least.
