Camping Is An Excellent Family Vacation Choice

Anyone with a family knows that taking a family vacation can be fairly expensive. Depending upon where you plan to go, how long you plan to be there, how you plan to get there and where you plan to stay, it can actually run into several thousands of dollars just for a one to two week family vacation.

If you’ve been wanting to take your family on vacation but have hesitated this year because of the expense, a camping trip is something you should definitely consider. Camping is a wonderful family vacation experience, because you end up spending much more quality time together doing things you might not normally do while on vacation.

Camping is an activity that can be enjoyed by all ages, and this is part of what makes it so ideal for a family vacation. Instead of having the small kids off in one spot of an amusement park, and older kids off in another spot, and adults exhausting themselves just trying to keep up, everyone can enjoy a variety of activities together.

Camping near a lake for example, allows the entire family to enjoy fun activities such as swimming, boating and fishing. If the children are over ten years old then hiking is another excellent way to spend family time together. Even small children can take easy nature walks through the forest too, and there are so many new things to see that the children will be enthralled for hours, plus they’ll learn many new things too!

In addition to these types of outdoor activities, camping is an excellent family vacation choice because of all the time you end up spending together. In the evenings you can all work together to gather wood and get a campfire going. Then you can sit around the fire toasting marshmellows, talking, and telling stories too. These are the types of activities kids partcularly love, and the memories usually last their entire lifetimes.

As you can see, going camping for your family vacation allows you to have lots of extra quality time with the entire family. And the added bonus is that camping is a much cheaper way to have a great family vacation too.

In most parts of the United States, taking your family on a tent camping vacation costs as little as $10 per night to stay in regular campgrounds where there is water, showers and bathrooms. Some of the more popular campgrounds around the country can cost as much as $20 per night, and private campgrounds may be as much as $35 per night. Compared to a minimum of $70-$100 or more per night at a hotel however, it’s immediately obvious how much more economical a family camping vacation can be.

If you choose to spend the entire vacation enjoying what nature has to offer as your entertainment, that brings the cost of a family vacation down even further since all you need to spend money on is food for the camping trip, and gas to get you to the campground of your choosing.
